STEM Boomerang New Mexico is committed to building a strong, sustainable STEM ecosystem in New Mexico by connecting talent with opportunity, creating career pathways for students, and fostering partnerships across education, industry, and the community.
We were founded in 2017 to address the state’s STEM talent drain by connecting students and professionals with meaningful career opportunities in New Mexico!
Through career development resources and increased visibility of local employers — especially in specialized tech and startups — we’re building a stronger, more connected STEM workforce across New Mexico.
Career Navigation Support
Since 2017, STEM Boomerang has been dedicated to helping STEM students, professionals, and job seekers navigate New Mexico’s job market. Whether in the state’s innovative startup ecosystem or with established STEM and tech employers, our mission is to raise awareness of career opportunities and prepare New Mexico’s workforce for success in STEM fields.
Our first hiring event took place in 2017 at The University of New Mexico, where more than 115 STEM students and professionals connected with recruiters from 30 local companies during a two-day immersive experience highlighting New Mexico’s innovation and entrepreneurship landscape. Since then, we’ve hosted numerous hiring and professional development events, engaging over 1,000 professionals and more than 100 New Mexico employers.
Publications
We actively seek solutions to address New Mexico’s workforce needs. In 2019, we conducted a study aimed to identify the challenges hindering recruitment and retention of New Mexico’s STEM graduates. Ultimately, our goal is to bridge the gap between these highly qualified individuals and rewarding career opportunities in New Mexico.
