It’s hard to build a career somewhere if you can’t get your foot in the door. Our Labor Day poll asked what would make the biggest difference in keeping more STEM talent in New Mexico.
Among 10 voters, “More entry-level opps” led with 50%. “More career pathways” followed at 30%, and “Higher salaries” received 20%. Increased exposure for New Mexico employers received 0%.
That entry-level vote brings a familiar job-search puzzle to mind: how do you get experience when the job requires experience? A first opportunity can give someone a reason to stay. Career pathways raise the next question: once you’re in, where can you go?
